Veil Nebula West (NGC6960)

Five images were obtained before transit, and three afterwards with the mount flipped. Stacking the images with sigma clip significantly reduced some diffraction spikes on the brightest stars (which should not be there: I used a refractor!) as they rotated 180 degrees. I will remember this trick, which could also be accomplished by rotating the camera alone. I have provided this image at higher resolution than others taken with the Starshoot camera, as it is of better quality.

Verendrye airstrip, August 8, 2010, 11:30 PM - 2:30 AM; T=+7 to +1 C, seeing very good. 9x15 min, Orion Starshoot on 120mm refractor; no filters; autoguided.
